Say Hi To Thomas! Tom began his craft beer career in the beautiful interior of BC. He needed a change, so he left his well paying job in the oil & gas industry to scrub floors and fill kegs. Delighting friends and family at gatherings with his home brewed beer, his love of hosting and passion for brewing was fully realized. After quickly rising through the ranks to become a professional brewer, he attended the local university, gaining knowledge in microbiology and chemistry while brewing full time. Since his move to the lower mainland, Tom has worked at a few of the best breweries BC has to offer and is the recipient of several national and international beer awards. He can often be seen cycling around Vancouver hunting for a sunny patio seat, or at the local rugby pitch throwing his weight around. His love of food and travel will ensure new and exotic offerings in the tasting room, but he is especially excited to bring to you the classic styles that made him fall in love with craft beer years ago. We are super excited to have Thomas Batty join us here at Smugglers Trail. He comes to the team with a great deal of experience and accolade. In his time with Coal Harbour Brewing, Thomas won several awards including 2 Canadian gold medals and one Canadian Bronze. One of his brews also took silver at the World Beer Cup! Thomas has been working in local craft breweries for years and really has his finger on the pulse of the craft beer scene. Better yet, he fits right in with the Smugglers! Thomas is a very friendly dude, ready to have a chat with anyone and ready to teach and learn all about his beers and the many new recipes to come!
